The Western Melbourne Group (WMG) is delighted to announce the support of Wyndham City Council as a partner in bidding for an A-League licence and building a football-only stadium in Melbourne’s West.
WMG is excited to be working with Wyndham City Council which will provide the impetus for our group to build a privately-funded and sustainable model for Australian football in one of the fastest growing regions in the country.
Our vision is to have an A-League team in the West of Melbourne that plays out of its own stadium – a world-class facility like the great stadiums of the world – that football fans can call home.
The Expression of Interest WMG provided to Football Federation Australia is a comprehensive blueprint for a self-reliant and community-focused football club.
This will be a club that puts its fans first and grows alongside them.
We understand that Melbourne’s West has a rich and proud football history, and that’s something we will embrace and respect.
This is also a region that will play an integral part in Australia’s future, with thousands of new families and thousands of football-playing boys and girls.
WMG will work with local clubs to provide better facilities and pathways.
Our ownership group and bid teams are made up of football people and this means every single decision we make will be for the good of the game and the football community.
Twelve months ago, we started to #DreamBIG – today, with the support of Wyndham City Council, we are a step closer to that dream becoming a reality.
