Growing Community Support For Western Melbourne

We continue to be amazed at the outpouring of support from this passionate football region, whether it be from thousands of individuals or from the councils, clubs and schools that are joining us on this journey.

As we move closer to the announcement of the new A-League licences we want to take a minute to recognise everyone who has been supportive of our bid to bring A-League and W-League teams to the Western Melbourne region.

Eight councils throughout the west of Melbourne and Victoria have committed to supporting WMG and working together to make it a success.

From our principle partner Wyndham City Living, who have gone above and beyond to assist in every way to make this bid a reality, to the following councils who have pledged their support: City of Melton, Brimbank City Council, Hobsons Bay City Council, City of Maribyrnong, City of Greater Geelong, Ballarat Council and Moonee Valley City Council.

We’ve also been overwhelmed by the more than 30 clubs in our region who have signed on to as partners and are committed to taking the journey with us.

Furthermore, not only are we committed to bringing the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League to the West, but we also promise to grow the game throughout schools and the community.

In conjunction with schools like Kardinia International College, Williamstown North Primary School, Christian College, Geelong College, Mackillop College and Westbourne Grammar, we look forward to rolling out a comprehensive plan to deliver our game to as many schools as possible throughout the entire Western Region.

Finally, to everyone who followed us on social media, provided feedback through our fan survey, attended our fan forum or contributed to our kit design challenge, we say keep the ideas coming via our Facebook page.

This is a ‘Fan First’ football club and you will have your say in how this club is built.

This is an exciting time for football in Australia and in particular, the western region of Melbourne. Let’s continue to #DREAMBIG together.
